NearPDF is a set of free, browser-based PDF tools: merge, split, reorder, rotate, delete pages, convert pages to JPG, add page numbers, and watermark. Every operation runs entirely on your own device — your files are never uploaded to a server.
NearPDF is built and run by one independent developer, not a company. It grew out of a simple discomfort: almost every "free online PDF tool" first asks you to upload the document — and the documents people edit are exactly the ones they would least like to hand over: contracts, IDs, medical records, financial statements. Modern browsers are powerful enough to do this work themselves, so NearPDF treats privacy as architecture, not as a promise in a policy.
Because processing happens on your device, there is almost nothing to pay for on our side — a static site is cheap to host, and there are no processing servers to run. Instead of charging you, the site earns money transparently: through ads that load only if you consent (rejecting them disables nothing), and through clearly labeled affiliate links (Amazon Associates, Coupang Partners) that may earn a commission on purchases at no extra cost to you.
It is not just a policy — it is technically enforced. NearPDF is a static site shipped with a strict Content-Security-Policy, which makes your browser itself block any request that could carry your file data anywhere. You can verify it: open your browser’s developer tools, watch the network tab while processing a file, and you will see no upload. There is also no account system and no file storage — there is simply nothing to breach.
NearPDF is one of six small tools built on the same principle — your files stay near you: NearIMG (image tools), NearBG (background removal), NearVid (video tools), NearScrub (metadata removal) and NearSeal (file encryption). All of them run entirely in your browser.
